About Us

Our Mission

Tennessee Parent is a nonprofit, community-supported digital publication for parents raising children in the volunteer state.

Let’s face it, parenting isn’t easy. We aim to be a trusted and engaging source of expert advice and useful information equipping Tennessee parents to make the best decisions for their families– with more assurance and less stress.

Plus, we hope to connect families to their communities and to our great state – uncovering all Tennessee has to offer families from Memphis to Mountain City.

Our Story

Tennessee Parent is an initiative of Tennesseans for Quality Early Education (TQEE). Funding for TQEE and for Tennessee Parent comes from generous donations from Tennessee philanthropic foundations, corporations and residents who support our mission. We’re also exploring partnerships with orgs who might like to advertise with Tennessee Parent — though we’re in the early stages of that.

We believe in families and the crucial role of parents in raising the next generation of Tennesseans.

We also know how busy parents are, and that it’s often hard for parents to find and access the information they need when they need it.  So, we thought we’d try a new strategy: Meet parents where they are, and at their convenience, by regularly delivering engaging and useful information through digital content and social media channels.

Start-Up and Next Steps

We’re in start-up mode, building as we go.  Most of our initial content is developed by TQEE’s communications director, Jenny White, a resident of Kingsport, TN and mom of 3 young children. Our CEO is Blair Taylor, a Memphis resident and mom of two twenty-something kids who are, officially and successfully, no longer dependent on the bank of mom and dad. We’ve also enlisted the guidance of veteran news expert and consultant David Arkin – he lives in Texas but we’ll forgive him that for now while he helps us get our publication up and running.

We’re building out a group of Tennessee-based content writers, experts and advisors, and we’ll post all of that information here as we grow.
